Annual dues depend on your membership tier, total staff size, and zone. Abstracter & Agent — Regular Membership covers your whole firm under one membership. Associate Membership is issued to one individual at a flat rate.

Associate Membership
For banks, mortgage lenders, licensed surveyors, public recording officers, title insurance company staff, and other corporate users of NY title services. Issued to an individual, not a company.

Common questions
Regular Membership is for licensed title insurance agents, Abstracters, abstract companies, and law firms that are themselves actively engaged in abstracting or examining titles in New York, with principal place of business in New York (Constitution and By-Laws, Article V, Section 2). One firm-wide membership covers every employee.
Associate Membership is for everyone who uses or supports title services without abstracting or examining titles — banks, mortgage lenders, licensed surveyors, public recording officers, title insurance company staff, and attorneys or law firms that use title services rather than abstract or examine titles (Constitution and By-Laws, Article V, Section 3). It is issued to one individual, not a company, and is non-voting.
It depends on what the firm does, not on the fact that it is a law firm. If your firm is itself abstracting and/or examining New York titles — acting as the Abstracter or licensed title agent — it qualifies for Abstracter & Agent (Regular) Membership under By-Laws Article V, Section 2, with dues by zone and total employees. If your firm only uses title services in its real estate practice, attorneys-at-law are named in Article V, Section 3 and join as Associate Members at $495/year, issued to one individual and non-voting.

The NYSLTA membership year runs November 1 through October 31. Join for the 2027 year now and the balance of the 2026 year (through October 31, 2026) is included at no added cost.
